BENTON C BAINBRIDGE (US, b.1966) is an artist based in the Bronx. Bainbridge makes media performances, interactive installations and time-based artworks.
Bainbridge has exhibited widely, at Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Museum of the Moving Image, The Kitchen, Frieze Art Fair (NYC), Everson Museum of Art (Syracuse), EMPAC (Troy), SFMoMA, Dallas Video Festival, Boston Cyberarts Festival, Sonic Light (Amsterdam), Fundación Juan March (Madrid), Mercat des les Flors (Barcelona), LUX2006 (Sevilla), Auditorium Parco della Musica (Roma), Wien Moderne (Vienna), Inventionen (Berlin), Teatro Colón CETC (Buenos Aires), International Horticultural Expo (Xi’an, China), and Korean Festival (Seoul).
Bainbridge was media artist for 2 Beastie Boys world tours, crafted analog video effects for TV On The Radio’s “Staring at the Sun”, and threw Whitney Museum’s best-attended live event with video ensemble The Poool. Bainbridge has been resident media artist of American Museum of Natural History’s “One Step Beyond” since its inception. He teaches “New Forms in Media” at School of Visual Arts MFA Computer Arts Department.
Bainbridge is currently exhibiting media art at The Artist Shop group AFH|AIR show in The Bronx and the video sculpture TRIGGERS in the sound art show "Sonic Arcade: Shaping Space with Sound" at Museum of Art & Design.
