Richard Garvey-Williams (born in Uganda in 1962 to British parents) spent his childhood years in East Africa and was so in awe of the beautiful wildlife of that region that even now, many years on and based in Britain, he still feels the draw of that continent and the safari experience. As a fine art nature photographer, he uses his skills to share with others these wonders and the empathy and respect that he feels for the natural world – “By photographing something with love and care, we attribute value to it”.
He regards his work as also serving to open eyes and hearts to the plethora of wonderful neighbours and the beautiful habitats that we have here on planet Earth. On the darker side, it can also serve as a warning of what we stand to lose if we continue on our path of growth, greed and excess.
