Mick Watson (1979, Newcastle, UK) is a mixed media artist whose work uses paint, sculpture, photography and video to explore themes of colour perception, memory, community and shared experiences.
As a painter, graphic designer and animator Watson's work can take on many different forms but has recently veered towards video and projection art works.
Using previous studies in philosophy, each piece begins with a defined set of questions which are then discussed and, at times, answered in the work. For example, in Kaerlud #1, 2012, fundamental questions included 'how aware are we of our varied colour experiences of the city?' and 'is there a colour experience that is common to all inhabitants lives around the city?'
He lives and works in London.
