Leafa Wilson aka Olga Hedwig Krause b. Tokoroa, 1966 Villages in Samoa: Vaimoso and Siumu Leafa Wilson is an accomplished artist, curator and writer based in Waikato, New Zealand. Wilson/ Krause is revered for her experimental multi-media installations and performance art. Wilson/ Krause has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions. Among which are: the University of Queensland Brisbane, 2006, the Burke Museum, Seattle, Washington. in 2005 and the first Morni Hills Performance Art Biennale, Chandigarh/ Badisher Hills, India in 2016. She often works under the nom de guerre Olga Krause, a name that queries the boundaries of indigenous and Western ideologies and re-colonising her birth-certificated name with her brown body. Her diverse practice has resulted in unique collaborations. The performance work Anthro. 101 Genetecist Dr. Nichola Harcourt, Faith Wilson and Olive Wilson; Hedwig and George (with Georgina Watson)and she regularly collaborates with eldest daughter, Faith Wilson. In 2015, the performance, ‘Fili’ (wtih Faith and Olive) was included in the exhibition ‘Enjoy: Feminisms’ curated by Jessica Hubbard at Enjoy Public Art Gallery, Wellington, NZ. Wilson/Krause's recent performances: ‘Intersectional’ a collaboration with Faith Wilson, Christchurch, and ‘Me and My Salu Lima’ a solo work;(The Summer Performance Series) facilitated by CoCA and curated by Khye Hitchcock 2017.
