Angela Eames (1951, Malmesbury, UK) is a member of The London Group and a Fellow of The Royal Society of the Arts, an artist based in East Sussex, UK, whose practice has continuously involved the exploration of drawing in direct relation to technology, be that pixel or pencil. She produces both series and independent works, still and moving, and has exhibited continuously internationally. She studied Fine Art Painting at Bath Academy of Art in Corsham and Fine Art/Experimental at the Slade School, London, before being awarded her doctorate from Wimbledon School of Art and Surrey University. Eames takes raw data from her ongoing drawings/photographs, the web and planetary science archives and processes it, creating new scapes. She builds, composites and optimises her images, to produce unfamiliar images or landscapes - images foreign to everyday human experience. Her work is best defined by its intense but delicate craftsmanship and by the transformation of commonplace image/object into works of art. Eames contradicts the generic and mass-produced with something essentially handmade, imbuing her images with an unanticipated sense of place; here or there, now or then, in front of or behind. In addition to solo exhibitions at Total Arts in Dubai, Linden Hall Studio in Deal and Solaris in St Leonards on Sea, UK, and numerous group shows, she won the Alpine Fellowship Visual Art Prize (2019) and longlisted for the Lumen Prize for a second time (2020). www.angelaeames.com
