Transfer Download in Santa Fe

Transfer Download in Santa Fe

TRANSFER Gallery’s long term project and virtual exhibition environment, TRANSFER Download, is visiting Santa Fe this year. A curated selection of works titled Simulations in Hyperspace is on show at the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation until 31 May 2019. The selection is inspired by the digital art collection housed at the Thoma Foundation and is supported by a commission from the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation.

TRANSFER Download is an exhibition format devised by TRANSFER Gallery, which has so far travelled to the Current Museum in New York, Haus der elektronischen Künste in Basel and Shanghai’s Chronus Art Centre and which is being developed into an art fair booth concept for NADA New York. A layered, salon-style format, TRANSFER Download was designed by Kelani Nichole and Harvey Moon at the Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco in 2016 and is optimised for the display of artworks exploring simulated reality, online and algorithmic structures and procedural animation. These artworks reside in a vast hyperlinked virtual space. Selections of these works are regularly shown in physical spaces as a ‘download’. Each iteration of the Transfer Download is different, context specific, and addresses different questions about digital culture.

The exhibition features artwork by AES+F, LaTurbo Avedon, Snow Yunxue Fu, Carla Gannis, Claudia Hart, Alex McLeod, Rollin Leonard, Lorna Mills, Harvey Moon, Sabrina Ratte, Nicolas Sassoon & Rick Silva, Daniel Temkin, Theo Triantafyllidis, and Lu Yang.
