Doug Foster: Weaver in group show at MK Gallery

Doug Foster recently presented his work Weaver as part of a group exhibition at MK Gallery in Milton Keynes, England.

Weaver (pictured) is a moving painting which extends Foster’s interest in using carefully arranged audiovisual rhythms to stimulate sensory and bodily responses. The piece “strives to invoke a calming influence on its audience. The composition features twisting, textural imagery, repeated as eight horizontal bands that are offset in time and entwined into three dimensional forms. The imagery is bestowed with a gentle, descending motion while the action is repeated at a constant rate of one beat per second in the hope that it will slow and synchronise the viewer’s heart rate. - Doug Foster

MK Calling ran until 1 November and featured the work of over 130 artists across five gallery spaces. The works in the exhibition were selected and curated following MK Gallery’s first open call. Represented artists range from the well established to the new and emerging, with a third of the artists being from the Milton Keynes area.
