Can Büyükberber: Zero Space

Can Büyükberber: Zero Space

A new installation by Can Büyükberber is part of a large scale immersive experience and exhibition currently open to visitors in New York City.

Zero Space is a year-long group endeavour which brings together the work of actors, artists and technologists to transform a space in New York into a portal to another dimension.

Zero Space is a one-hour experience that combines actor-driven narratives with innovative digital technologies to shrink the distance between visitor and experience. The project, which is located near Penn station and runs for one year, is multisensory, multimedia and experimental, with some sections guided and some in which the visitor roams free.

Büyükberber presents a new audiovisual installation piece, Noumenon, as part of the project. Noumenon is the culmination of four years of work by the artist in collaboration with Gabriel Schama (laser sculpture) and Joshua Davis. The installation is a compilation of a range of recent explorations by Büyükberber as part of the Multiverse project - “from emergent systems to out-of-body experiences; from transcendental objects to the symbols of the collective unconscious” (Büyükberber).

Other artists contributing to Zero Space are Joe Hill, Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk, Electric Playhouse and TUNDRA (pictured).
