The Waiting collection is a series of ten moving image works, each of which is created to seamlessly and continuously loop.

The collection was largely inspired by the works of the Danish Modernism and Expressionism movement, in particular the work of Carl Holsøe and Vilhelm Hammershøi.

Although Holsøe has now become largely overshadowed by Hammershøi, Roff has paid homage to his work in particular. Holsøe’s Danish style of angularity, the way his treatment of subjects makes them look natural, and his use of colour inspired Roff to explore how Holsøe work could evolve with the added dimension of time, adding a gentle movement to the narrative.
